Ideas for Cheap Wedding Centerpieces: Creative, Crafty, Clever and Chic!
Creative, crafty, chic and cheap are just a few ways to describe these ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces.
Your centerpieces are very
important
and play a big part in setting the mood and vibe at your reception. Getting creative with your centerpieces is a fantastic way to save
without skimping.

tablescapes from Style Me Pretty. Stunning!
One of the best, and easiest, ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces is to be mindful of the height of all your arrangements.
Not only does the
price almost
double once it goes over 12 inches, but it obstructs peoples' view while sitting at tables. You want a beautiful table accent, not an expensive
conversation blocker.

videos on how to make your own bubble bowl centerpieces.
What Wedding? As I've mentioned before and will certainly mention again, avoid the W word if at all possible. The second "wedding" is mentioned
you can count on the price being jacked up unnecessarily. Your table arrangements and centerpieces could easily be for a 50th wedding anniversary
or a college graduation party or a "golden years" birthday celebration etc. etc. etc.
Ideas for Cheap Wedding Centerpieces: Double Duty
This next ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces is growing hugely popular by the minute! And I've seen it done at many, many weddings.
Have your bridesmaids' bouquets do double duty and use them to decorate some of the guest or food tables. (Make sure
to already have the vases out and ready for their
placement.) I've seen a lot of brides use them to decorate the cake table with, but a cake table doesn't need any decoration.
Your cake is decoration
enough!
This is an idea your Mom -and future Mom!- are sure to love. Instead of the usual "Mother's Corsage," consider mini
bouquets for all moms, grandmoms and any other special lady that might receive one, so that they can double as small arrangements
at the reception. Have vases placed in their respective spots ready to go!
Have someone bring over your ceremony flowers to the reception. It would be a shame to not get to enjoy those
arrangements once the "I Dos" are over. You can literally "save" hundreds by "re-using" the arrangements from the ceremony.
Depending on what you have in mind for your wedding favors, this is another emerging trend in the ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces world.
How about arranging your favors on some - or all - of the guest tables as the focal centerpiece? Alone or with candles, I've seen this
done at a few weddings and every time I'm amazed at how fantastic it looks. 2 wedding reception items for the price of one!
A hugely popular wedding trend today is to have a candy buffet at your reception.
And what's better than a candy buffet,
is a candy buffet designed for guests to bring home some sweets in a color coordinating organza bag as favors. And what's even better than that, is having
your candy buffet distributed amongst guest tables to double as centerpieces. I mean, who doesn't like candy!!
Edible favors that double as centerpieces.
Now that is super chic, and super cheap!
IDEAS FOR CHEAP WEDDING CENTERPIECES: WHO DO YOU KNOW?
Who do you know? Or who do your friend's know? I have a friend who is a restaurant manager but creates amazing flower arrangements "just for fun."
He creates new works of art (literally!) each week for the restaurant, and each week (I'm a regular ;) I'm amazed by his unique and inventive
arrangements. From daisies to dendrobiums, every bloom he touches turns to beautiful!
Does he do weddings? Sure does. And for a literal steal compared to a "professional" florist. Isn't this amazing?! Since Chris does a stunning arrangement
like this every week, I will for sure be posting more pictures of his art. (My camera doesn't do it justice)!
Ask your friends who they have used for their wedding, and if they had a good experience, budget included. Score if they loved
the florist's work, experienced good customer service,
and was reasonably priced. Sometimes florists will give you a small discount if someone referred you to them - but you have
to remember to ask!
IDEAS FOR CHEAP WEDDING CENTERPIECES: CREATIVE CREATIONS
Getting creative with your creations is one of the fastest growing ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces today.
Some brides are choosing to alternate flower
arrangements with candle centerpieces or fruit centerpieces, while others are forgoing the flower centerpieces altogether in lieu of some
much more creative budget friendly options.
One of the most popular creative alternatives today is to use framed pictures of you, your groom
and/or your families grouped with candles as centerpieces on each guest table. Are you a tad shy or don't think you are photogenic?
Try framing love poems or quotes in vintage frames clustered together on your tables. Check out
Love Quotes for some inspiration.
This is one of my most favorite ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces! It's super chic and you get to enjoy the benefits long after your wedding.
Check out the beautiful orchid plants used as centerpieces at this reception. They are gorgeous as is and don't even need anything else to
add to their beauty or uniqueness. The best part of this inventive idea? They cost around $19 each at your local grocery store and you (and your
guests if you choose to share!) get to
enjoy them around your home long after your wedding has come and gone. Talk about Sane and Sweet!
Topiaries wrapped in tulle are extremely original and unique.
You can either purchase or rent your topiaries and wrap them in tulle tied with a bow. It's
literally as simple as that and it's one of those great wedding flower ideas where you can enjoy them after your wedding if you choose to
purchase them. Generally topiaries are height proportioned for placement on the ground, but you can find smaller ones to place on the
tables and use as centerpieces. You can throw some candles around them as well for an extra splash of special.
Float flowers heads or miniature candles in a large water filled bowl. This is a super cheap wedding centerpiece idea and you can get
all your supplies at a local craft store, or at an online wholesaler like
save-on-crafts.com. Use any type of vase you think would work well,
and put some fish gravel or decorative rocks or arranging beads in the bottom for an extra splash of color.

for as cheap as $1! This might be the best budget find yet for DIY brides.
IDEAS FOR CHEAP WEDDING CENTERPIECES: LOVELY ILLUMINATION
Ideas for cheap wedding centerpieces don't stop at flowers and foliage. There are so many things you can do with candles
that they are literally in their own category.
By themselves, with flowers, with greenery, with other
creative centerpiece ideas, the list goes on.
How about different sizes of pillar candles grouped together on each table. Arranged this way creates a truly
classic and romantic look - and you don't need a single bloom. White is always a great choice,
or you can have them coordinate with your wedding colors. These can also be found super cheap at local craft stores or online.
Place a flat, round or square mirror under them to add an extra touch. You can get a 14 inch centerpiece mirror at
save-on-crafts.com for as little
as $4.99. Scented or unscented, make sure you check to see the burn time on the candles -
you don't want to end up with wax coated tables halfway through the reception.
If you want to take your illumination centerpieces a step further, birch bark candles are
fantastic for fall and winter weddings. Grouped with apples and some greenery, or pine cones, or
other types of candles. There are a lot of different ways to create fantastic centerpieces with these candles.
If you like the candle as an idea for cheap wedding centerpieces but still want some flowers incorporated, add a few
blooms and greenery like this fabulous centerpiece..
Simple, chic, and cheap.
Speaking of simple, cheap and super chic - A plain white pillar candle on a small platter covered in stones with a single bloom in a
square vase in the center. It would take you about as long to create it as it did for you to read how to do it. A
hydrangea was used but you can use any other large bloom flower.
IDEAS FOR CHEAP WEDDING CENTERPIECES: CREATIVELY CHIC
For fall or winter weddings, placing pinecones and greenery on a charger or platter is perfect for the season. Spray paint them
gold or silver to add more color. At Christmastime, arrange ornaments in large glass bowls or on silver trays.
Garnish with garland! All of these items can be found for super cheap.
Having a beach wedding? Try filling fish bowls or wide mouth vases
with sand and some seashells. Only thing you'd really have to pay for are the fish bowls!
Consider including flowering branches to your arrangements for a dramatic and elegant look as well
as giving the appearance that there is more
there.
Some great
budget friendly options are ilex, quince, cherry blossom and forsythia.
IDEAS FOR CHEAP WEDDING CENTERPIECES: FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Food over flowers! Try small to medium sized clusters of colorful fruits or vegetables. Some great options are apples,
pears, kumquats, cranberries,
star fruit, pineapples, kiwis, mangoes, lemons and limes. In the fall don't forget miniature pumpkins and squashes sprinkled with the turning
leaves of the season.
For fall weddings, consider platters of harvest wheats and loaves of breads. Not only cheap, but edible, too!
If you don't want food over flowers, how about food with flowers? This is one of the most fantastically creative and unique ideas for
cheap wedding centerpieces!
Vitually any type of clear vase will accommodate fruits such as lemons, limes, cherries, grapes, etc. etc.
Put the whole, or sliced, pieces of fruit in the vase and place your flowers strategically between the fruits to hold the flowers in place.
Just a few flowers, or a lot, will
look fantastic in this type of arrangement. Fruit can also be placed with the arrangement for extra texture and color.
